Did you try running the two colors horizontally? I get the idea, but the vertical stripes run my eyes off the page before it can really allow the intent to sink in! The stripes also conjure up the number three, and if transgender is the idea, two would be more suggestive. Jus' sayin'...
I'd also kill the "by" and increase the authors name size. Of course, it's "by" the author -- remember, you can say that inside on your title/copyright page, but the cover is packaging/sales device.
